When seniors tell me they want something that feels coastal but still stylish, Ponte Vedra is always one of the first places I suggest. It is naturally beautiful without feeling overdone, which is exactly what you want for senior pictures that will still feel timeless years from now. The tones are soft, the light is dreamy, and there is so much variety in a small area that your gallery never feels repetitive.
What I love most as a Ponte Vedra Photographer is that you can create an entire senior session experience here without rushing from place to place. You can go from classic and polished to relaxed and personal, all within minutes. It gives seniors the chance to have images that feel like different versions of them, while still keeping everything cohesive.

What made Ava’s senior session so special was how personal it felt from the very beginning. Before we even stepped onto the beach, we started at a family friend’s backyard near the club, and it ended up being one of the most unique parts of her entire session. It had everything you picture when you think of Florida. Palm trees, a beautiful pool, and that relaxed, tucked-away feel that you simply cannot recreate in a public location.
This part of her session felt a little more laid-back and natural, which helped her ease into everything and truly enjoy the experience. It also gave her something that no one else will have because it is private. But all of her friends will say “WHERE WAS THAT?!”
From there, we explored a nearby bridge and a few hidden areas that added even more variety to her gallery. These spots brought in that elevated Florida feel she was drawn to while still keeping everything cohesive. It is those in-between locations and personal touches that really take a senior session from just pretty to unforgettable.
One of my favorite spots to photograph is right by the fountain in front of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. There is something about the way the light filters through the water that creates the prettiest glow, especially when it hits just right during golden hour. Add in the palm trees surrounding the space, and it instantly gives that elevated tropical feel without trying too hard.
For Ava’s session, this location gave us those fun, carefree images that felt completely natural. The movement of the fountain, the soft light, and the greenery all worked together. It is one of those spots that always photographs beautifully, and it never goes out of style.

Right in front of the club, the beach itself is just as stunning. The sand is clean, the dunes are soft and natural, and it is noticeably less crowded than a lot of the nearby Jacksonville beaches. That makes such a difference, especially for seniors who might feel a little nervous at the start of their session.
Ava had access to the club areas, which made everything really seamless for us, but even the public access just a little further down the street is just as beautiful. That is one of the things I always tell my seniors and their moms, you do not need anything overcomplicated to get incredible photos here. Ponte Vedra naturally gives you that clean, coastal backdrop that keeps the focus on you.

Ava knew what she wanted for her senior session. As always, I give my clients options for their desired “look”. Ava knew she wanted the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club and, definitely, the beach.
Part of my job is to know the rules of all the locations, parking, costs, limitations, etc. I expressed concern that the Inn was a little more strict about using their property for a senior session. But because they have a family friend that is a member and lives very close to the club, they offered to come with us.
And! They offered to let us use their backyard, which is really a tropical Florida oasis for part of the session. Ummm, yes, please!
One of my favorite things about Ava’s session was how perfectly her outfits fit both her and the location. I always tell my seniors that you really can’t go wrong with neutrals, and she leaned into that in such a beautiful way. Every look felt clean, timeless, and elevated without ever feeling overdone.
She started with a soft neutral dress that photographed so effortlessly against the greenery and coastal architecture. It had that classic, polished feel while still being simple enough to keep the focus on her. This is exactly why I love lighter tones for the beginning of a session. They reflect light beautifully and give you that fresh, glowing look.
For her second outfit, she switched into a more casual look with a neutral top and denim shorts. This added a relaxed, fun layer to her gallery and felt very true to her personality. It is always a good idea to mix in something a little more laid back so your photos do not all feel the same.
And then there was her black dress on the beach, which I absolutely loved. Black is not always the first color people think of for beach photos, but it is still a neutral, and it created the most beautiful contrast against the soft sand and warm light. It felt a little more bold and elevated while still fitting perfectly with the overall look of her session.
Together, her outfits gave her so much variety without losing that cohesive, timeless feel. That is always the goal.

I have teenagers now, I have a little bit of insight into their minds. I have watched them go from playing with Barbies to playing Spotify in their airpods 24/7. And what I have noticed that comes with that?
They have grown up in the era of pictures all the time, whenever they want. They take a picture of what they are doing or a quick crooked selfie and put it on Instagram Stories or SnapChat and it’s gone in 24 hours. Immediacy is KING.They post everything in Stories and nothing on their feed.
What is in their feed, though? Moments. Homecoming, prom, a trip to the beach and grad pictures (Senior Sunday). They know how to pose, kinda. They know how to pose for Instagram. But, in order to draw out real personality, it is more about movement, more real life with just a little guidance. The best photos don’t force it out, it is brought out.

Ava was a natural in front of the camera! But I could definitely see that she came alive at the beach. The beach has her heart. But, of course, she’s a Florida girl! This was definitely my favorite part of the session!
Until…
We were finished with the session, and then I looked over and there was the most GLORIOUS light! Friends, you know that light is EVERYTHING! And I saw it! Even though we were done and just walking back to our cars from the beach, I told Ava that we HAD to get this last picture!
That is always my favorite part of the session. I call it “The Money Shot”. The one that makes it all worth it! Check it out here:

One of the biggest questions I get from moms when planning senior pictures is what their daughter should wear, and it truly makes such a difference in how the final images feel. When you are investing in senior pictures in Ponte Vedra, you want outfits that feel timeless, flattering, and natural in this coastal setting.
As a Ponte Vedra Photographer, I always guide my seniors toward pieces that photograph beautifully in our light and complement the soft tones of the beach. The goal is not to over-style, but to choose outfits that feel elevated, effortless, and still completely like your senior.
I always come back to neutrals and soft, neutral pastels. These colors create a cohesive, polished gallery and allow your daughter to be the focus of every image.
In your Senior guide that every senior will get to guide you through every aspect of your session, there is tons of wardrobe advice, even great local locations and online stores to get great outfits for senior pictures, one of my favorites is: I Am Dusk!

When planning senior pictures in Ponte Vedra, color matters more than most people expect. Soft neutrals like cream, white, tan, and light blue photograph beautifully against the sand and sea oats. Muted pastels like blush or soft floral tones also work so well and add just a little bit of variety while still keeping everything cohesive.
These tones reflect light in a really flattering way, which is especially important for beach sessions. They help create that soft, glowing look that so many moms love when they see their daughter’s final gallery.
I always recommend avoiding bold, bright colors or heavy patterns. Those can quickly take attention away from your senior and date the images over time. Instead, keeping everything within a neutral palette ensures the photos feel timeless.
And while it might surprise some people, black can be such a beautiful choice for beach senior photos. It acts as a neutral, adds a little contrast, and gives a more elevated feel while still fitting seamlessly into a Ponte Vedra session.
The best outfits for senior pictures in Ponte Vedra are the ones that have a little movement and texture while still feeling simple. Flowy dresses are always one of my top recommendations because they move beautifully in the coastal breeze and create that soft, timeless look that never goes out of style.
For a second outfit, I love when seniors incorporate a skirt and tank combination. A flowy skirt paired with a soft, fitted top feels relaxed but still polished. It gives variety to the gallery while still keeping everything cohesive and elevated.
These types of outfits photograph so well in Ponte Vedra because they complement the natural surroundings instead of competing with them. They also allow your senior to move comfortably, which leads to more natural, genuine expressions throughout the session.

Most seniors will bring two to three outfits to their session, and the goal is to create variety while still keeping everything cohesive. I always recommend starting with the most elevated look, usually a flowy dress, and then transitioning into something more relaxed like a skirt and tank.
Staying within a similar color palette is key. If your first outfit is a soft neutral, the rest should complement that rather than feel completely different. This helps your daughter’s final gallery feel polished and consistent, which is something moms especially appreciate when viewing and printing their images.
It is also helpful to mix textures instead of colors. You can create variety through different fabrics and styles while still keeping everything within that neutral, timeless look.
At the end of the day, simple and thoughtfully chosen outfits will always photograph the best. When everything works together, the result is a senior gallery that feels effortless, elevated, and something you will both love for years to come.
Timing is one of the biggest pieces of planning senior pictures, and it is something I walk every mom through. There is not just one perfect time for senior pictures in Ponte Vedra. It really depends on your schedule, your vision, and how you want your daughter’s photos to feel.
As a Ponte Vedra photographer, I always build sessions around light first, then season, and then timing within the school year. When those three things come together, that is when you get a gallery that feels effortless, natural, and something you truly love.
I have also added a new collection for seniors. You get 2 full sessions (one in the fall/winter and another one in the spring/summer) and then 2 petite sessions that can be done throughout the year. For the mom and daughter who want and deserve it all!

Lighting matters more than anything else when it comes to your final images. That soft, glowing look you see in senior photos comes from shooting during golden hour, which is the hour leading up to sunset.
This is when the light is lower in the sky, warmer in tone, and much softer on the skin. It creates that natural glow and gives your daughter’s photos that timeless, elevated feel. The beach in Ponte Vedra also looks its best during this time, with soft light on the water and a really even, flattering tone across the sand.
As a native Southern Californian, I photographed, for years and years, with the sunset over the ocean. On the East Coast, we have the sunrise. Morning light is NOT the same. It is not the same “golden” as the sunset. It has a cooler tone and, for me, that is not preferred. But there are times when this is necessary. And we will go in the morning, very, very early in the morning. Because once the sun gets to a certain point, it might as well be noon and you will have dark shadows all over your face and “ain’t nobody got time for that’.
Midday is something I always avoid for senior sessions. The sun is directly overhead, which creates harsh shadows, bright highlights, and causes a lot of squinting. It does not give you the soft, natural look that most moms are hoping for when they invest in senior pictures.

Each season in Northeast Florida brings something a little different, and there really is no wrong choice. It comes down to what works best for your family and the overall look you are drawn to. And when you can book your Ponte Vedra photographer.
Spring is one of the most beautiful times for senior pictures in Ponte Vedra, Jacksonville, and St. Augustine. Everything feels fresh, the colors are soft, and the weather is usually more mild before the summer heat sets in. This time of year pairs so well with neutral and pastel outfits. The one thing to plan for is that spring can be a little unpredictable with wind and occasional rain.
Summer is when you get that classic Florida beach look. The sunsets are long and golden, and everything feels very coastal and relaxed. This is a popular time for senior pictures in Ponte Vedra, especially for families who want that true beach feel. The biggest challenge during summer is the heat and humidity. Even in the evening, it can still feel warm, so planning outfits and timing carefully is important.
Fall is one of the most requested seasons for senior pictures in Ponte Vedra and the surrounding areas. The temperatures start to cool down, the humidity drops, and sessions are much more comfortable. The light is especially soft this time of year, which photographs beautifully. Fall also works really well for moms planning around school schedules and graduation timelines. The main thing to keep in mind is that fall fills quickly. It is also a popular wedding a family session time. Find your Ponte Vedra photographer and book that spot EARLY!

The best time to book your senior pictures in with a Ponte Vedra photographer is earlier than most people expect. I always recommend that moms start planning a few months in advance, especially if you are hoping for a specific season.
Spring and fall sessions tend to book first, so those are the ones to plan for early. Summer can offer a little more flexibility, but the best golden hour dates still go quickly.
If you are working toward yearbook deadlines, announcements, or graduation, it is helpful to plan backward from those dates. This gives you enough time for your session, editing, and ordering without feeling rushed.
The earlier you book, the more options you have. And when everything is planned well, your daughter gets to show up feeling confident and actually enjoy her senior session.

When we were planning Ava’s senior session, we knew what Ava wanted for her locations, but we had to decide which order that locations would go in. Ava’s mom left that up to me, the beach ALWAYS goes last, for the best light. The backyard would have the most trees and open shade, I decided that was first. The fountain at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club would be very sunny, so we placed that location right before the beach. It all worked out so perfectly. This is how I love to help, using my expertise to give you beautiful pictures.

One of the biggest things moms tell me after their daughter’s session is how comfortable she felt. That is always my goal. Most seniors come in a little unsure of what to do in front of the camera, and that is completely normal. I guide them the entire time with natural posing and movement so nothing ever feels forced or awkward.
