Kristen and Evan wanted a downtown Houston engagement session. This was a first for me! I was so excited. About 10 years ago I had to stop doing downtown sessions in Los Angeles because I did not feel safe there anymore. To say I was a little nervous for this downtown Houston engagement session was an understatement. A few days before I went to check out the locations and I got so excited. This was going to be GREAT!
We started their session on Main Street near the MetroRail. We found a great spot where we could be near the tracks but not actually on them or on the street. Such a win! Kristen and Evan looked so chic for their downtown Houston engagement session!
We got our exercise exploring Main Street and finding all of the good light so we could have the urban look of downtown while still keeping the light and airy look of Mollie Jane Photography. It is my favorite thing to do! We will be mid-conversation and I am like “STOP!!! Look at that glow right there! We must go there now.” It’s pretty comical. Like in the image above, the light was reflecting off the building in the right of the picture, giving them the perfect glow. It was the best. It is definitely more of a challenge in an urban setting, but it’s a fun game for me. And at Kristen and Evan’s engagement session, it was a game we WON!
Then we literally found the best rooftop/parking garage! No cars! Lots of light-colored buildings and that gorgeous glow coming over the top of them! It was perfect! And Kristen and Evan are adorable and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding at Bridal Oaks this summer!
