This was a Shirley Acres wedding where we went with the flow. Aaron and Amanda weren’t expecting a rainstorm right before their ceremony, no one was, but Houston weather delivered one.
Aaron and Amanda were the first wedding that booked Mollie Jane Photography right after we moved to Houston. To say I was grateful would be an understatement. When you move your business (and your entire life) across the country, to a place where you know no one, it can shake your confidence a little bit. It doesn’t matter if you have been doing this for 16 years, have a college degree in photography and hundreds of weddings under your belt, you wonder if you will be accepted in a whole new environment. Talking to Amanda that first time, I knew we would be ok. I knew I would have to work hard, but I would find “my brides”. And I have! I am so grateful for Aaron and Amanda starting that off!
Their day started out like most wedding days, with details and getting ready pictures. So gorgeous! And a beautiful first look with Amanda and her dad. Oh! But then we had a hysterical fake first look with Aaron and his best man. Y’all! I laughed so hard! I can’t get over it. But then we went into such a sweet first look with Aaron and Amanda. I love them!
Thank goodness we were able to do their wedding party pictures and couple pictures before the ceremony. (Those questioning a first look, please take note). We were all set up for the ceremony. I was standing at the top of the aisle, my 2nd photographer was in place at the back of the aisle. All of a sudden, I saw the line of rain coming across the lawn and guests running for cover. I started feeling drops and I ran. Good thing too. It was a downpour.
Aaron and Amanda are awesome! We just moved the ceremony inside and the day went on. It did make it so we had no time after the ceremony. We grabbed one full wedding party picture and family with a flash, so grateful for that first look! It gives you options. This Houston weather can be MEAN.
Check out the awesome pictures that we were able to get because of their first look:
