Rice University is one of my favorite engagement session locations. Just add that to the list of awesome spots in downtown Houston! Not only that, we also hit one of my other favorite locations on South Blvd.

South Blvd. Engagement Session

Funny story about South Blvd. in Houston, before we even decided that we were going to move to Houston from Southern California, I was doing my normal morning Facebook scan and a story came up about how someone called the police on a photographer for shooting a family session near her home. The lady was driving by, saw the photographer, pulled over, and yelled at her for shooting on private property. I thought to myself, “Jeez! Relax lady!” And then I looked up exactly where this location was, it was South Blvd. in Houston!

As photographers, and as clients, we need to be respectful when we are shooting, wherever it is. There had probably been problems with confetti or trash being left behind after sessions. Although, from what I understand, this may not be “private property” exactly, it is part of the neighborhood’s HOA and we should leave the area as it was or better, so we can continue to use this beautiful area. There were many areas, in California, that were taken away from professional photographers by HOA for being disrespectful.

That was not the case with Emmarie and Rick’s engagement session! We started at South Blvd. and they brought Emmarie’s (and now Rick’s) adorable dog to be in the pictures. Pictures with my couple’s dog are always some of my favorites!

Rice University Engagement Session

Then we headed over to Rice University. I am a preferred photographer at Rice, so the sessions there are only $50/hour. Completely worth it! This location is absolutely gorgeous! Emmarie and Rick are the cutest that there is! I love meeting up with my clients at their engagement session for the first time. I know I say this a lot, but this time is precious to me. Then, when I show up to your wedding, it feels like I am going to my friends special day!

That is how I am going to feel going to Emmarie and Ricks wedding next month. I cannot wait to see them tie the knot! They are such a special couple!
